GJKKO Judge Erjon Çela rejects the request of Sali Berisha's lawyer and his son-in-law Jamarber Malltezi to disqualify the panel of judges Elsa Ulliri, Bib Ndreca and Rudina Palloj.

Defendants in the "Partizani" case, Berisha and Malltezi, request that they not be tried by the judges of the GJKKO because, according to them, these judges do not guarantee independence and impartiality, given that they are monitored, intercepted and supervised by SPAK, which is a party to this process.

Earlier, the rapporteur of the trial panel, Elsa Ulliri, was denied a request to resign from the case by the deputy president of the GJKKO. The judge requested the resignation on the grounds that she is a cousin of the current DP MP Andia Ulliri.

The next hearing for the Partizani file is scheduled to take place on September 15th.

Berisha is accused of passive corruption committed in collaboration, while Malltezi is accused of active corruption and money laundering.

Fatmir Bektashi, Xhimi Begeja and Andia Pustina were also taken into custody.
