Safet Gjic's lawyer, Përparim Kulluri, said after the arrest of the former mayor that they will not accept the charge of "passive corruption". According to him, the criminal offense has not been consummated.

He said that the actions of the former mayor are morally reprehensible, but there is no criminal offense in them, since no tender was announced, from which the girl shown in the video with him benefited.

"We do not accept the charge as his every action is morally reprehensible. There is no criminal offense. The criminal offense has not been committed, no tender has been announced," said the lawyer.

"So the criminal offense has not been consummated. It was a conversation after the act where the girl says that she has a project and consumes a conversation with Gjici, but there is no decision regarding this project that has been taken by the municipality. Today, the charges were communicated to him. After three days, a decision will be made on how the procedure will continue for Gjici, during which time he will remain in custody.

Our demand is that he be prosecuted in a free state because there is no criminal offense, in fact he should not be prosecuted at all. It is a moral act for which he has resigned", said lawyer Kulluri.
