One of the organizers of the civic protest against the government, Arben Kola, reacted this Sunday after the debate created by his statements the night before, which were also reposted by Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Through a post on social media, Kola clarified that his statement was misinterpreted and that he did not claim that the protest was organized, financed, or led by foreign agencies.
"I did not say that the protest is organized, financed, or directed by foreign agencies. I said quite the opposite: that there may be attempts by Serbian or Greek agencies to sabotage, disrupt, or discredit the protest," he writes.
According to Kola, saying that someone is trying to harm a protest is not the same as claiming that they are organizing it. He emphasizes that the protest was born from Albanian citizens and is kept alive by them.
"Whoever tries to confuse these two things either doesn't understand Albanian, or is trying to deceive public opinion," says Kola.
He concludes his response by reiterating his belief that the civic movement cannot be stopped.
"We have told you that this awakening is God's will and no one can undo it. Albania belongs to Albanians, not traitors," the activist writes.
Kola's reaction comes a day after Prime Minister Edi Rama published his statements, placing them at the center of political and media debate.
