Hundreds of Albanian citizens participated today in a protest organized in "Skënderbej" square to express support for Palestine.
They appeared with Albanian flags and the Palestinian flag as they shouted slogans against the bombing of Gaza. Some slogans also read the messages "Free Palestine" and "Two state solution".
The latter is an international proposal to resolve the Israel-Palestine conflict by guaranteeing a state for each.
But apparently the activist Marlind Laçi was also present at the protest, who was a little more courageous in expressing his support for Palestine.
On social networks, while sharing photos from the protest, he writes "From the river to the sea". This is a verse of the song that translates as "From the river to the sea".
The expression is considered anti-Semitic, as it is widely used in the context that there should only exist the state of Palestine from the river (Jordan) to the sea (Mediterranean).
The expression was first adopted by the Palestine Liberation Organization shortly after its founding in 1964 and is used today by both Hamas and Arab leaders as well as various protests around the world.
