Antipatrea Street is the main street of the city of Berat which is only with a sense of movement in most of its length.
The segment where the accident took place has undergone several reconstructions, both of the asphalt and of the protective railings.
The last reconstruction of the asphalt was carried out in 2016, while the reconstruction of the railings was carried out 9 years ago.
During this reconstruction, the concrete arches separating the road from the river were removed, replacing it with decorative iron railings which separate the road from the river bed located about 15 meters below.
Due to these specifics, there is a high flow of pedestrians frequented during the day, locals and tourists.
On that road there are some businesses which operate on the side of the road and being at a considerable and dangerous height above the river bed, the speed of movement in this segment is strictly limited, 30 km per hour, overtaking is strictly stop and observance of traffic rules is imperative.
