New details from the tragic accident in Këlcyre, where 7 illegal immigrants and the driver of a vehicle lost their lives.

The driver of the vehicle was transporting 7 illegal immigrants from the border point of Tre Urave in the direction of Këlcyra.

The driver of the vehicle, Sokol Ismeti, tried to escape from the police, after he was spotted by the patrol with the vehicle full of people. As soon as he saw the police patrol, he increased the speed and turned towards Përmet to leave.

According to preliminary expertise, the vehicle was moving at a speed of 180 km/h. Due to the high speed, the driver lost control of the 'Benz' and 'flew' to the side of the Vjosa river.

All 8 victims died at the scene, while there were difficulties in extracting the bodies.
