An Albanian convicted of raping a schoolgirl in the UK looks like he will not lose the subsecution he had obtained by lying about being a Kosovo citizen.
The Daily Mail reports that 52-year-old Djindjic Gjergji, who arrived in the UK in 2000 posing as a Kosovo national escaping war, will not lose his citizenship despite a Home Office appeal.
Hoping to deport him after a six-year prison sentence, an expat tribunal concluded it would be 'unfair' to strip George of His British passport, despite discovering he cheated when applying for asylum.
Confronted by Daily Mail journalists, the Albanian did not spare ironies.
"I'm fine, I don't have any worries here. I came to the UK because I wanted a better life and I found it. I like it here," he said.
Gjergji said he believed he has the right to stay in Britain, because he has a family here and his birthplace Albania is very dangerous.
"There are a lot of bad people out there," he said.
