Online games are also a very unsafe territory for children. An investigation by the Tirana prosecutor's office has revealed that a high school student opened an account under the name Leon Kenedi to play and later fell victim to stalking.
The investigation shows that at the age of 14 she opened accounts on Snapchat, Instagram and TikTok and then began playing online with strangers for almost two years. The prosecution says she fell into the trap during the games after being introduced to another peer who said her name was Sara from Texas.
It turned out that the 14-year-old girl fell into the trap of an adult who identified himself as Ahmad Madi, who lived in Finland, for two years. So far, he is only suspected of stalking.
The prosecution emphasizes that the young man traveled to Albania after losing contact and communication with the minor whose parents had confiscated her phone, and in the meantime, the young man continued to talk to her cousin.
The file states that the 14-year-old maintained communication with Madi out of fear. After posting photos of the apartment, her full name and address, he sent her pizza and food on several occasions until the day her parents discovered what was happening.
Questioned by the prosecution, the girl insists that she was threatened, then invited to engage in religion, bullied and asked to end her life. This situation between them lasted two years until the day when Ahmad Madi knocked on her house in Tirana, bringing the reaction of the neighbors who neutralized him until the police arrived.
The allegations of the suspect who insisted on a love story are not proven by the prosecution, which for its part insisted that requests to change the security measures against him not be taken into account.
So far, the cybercrime department is investigating not only cases of blackmail, harassment and online bullying between peers and adults within the country, but also similar crimes committed by foreign nationals.
