The President of the Association of Tour Operators, Arben Çipa, has reacted to the attack that occurred on Friday in the Heremec area.

He gave his statement to Euronews Albania, expressing that he is a peaceful man, as according to him he always avoids conflicts.

The businessman also said that he was forced by the situation to experience the macabre attack, calling on institutions to take measures to avoid these situations.

Among other things, he explained the attack, saying that while going to work, he was stopped on the street and then they started insulting him and hitting him with fists and stones.

Meanwhile, his health condition is stabilized, while the injuries to his face are serious, as he hopes that over time it will improve.

" I am a peaceful person and distance myself from any kind of provocation and I do not want to get involved in conflicts, but unfortunately, what has already been made public in the media happened. It was not my wish for this to happen, nor did I make the publication, but the situation unfolded that way. Society and institutions must become aware and take continuous measures to eliminate these problems, which have become a gangrene for our city.

At one point, while I was passing by the area to go to my business, they stopped me on the street, started cursing me and hitting me, first with fists and then with stones. My physical injuries began at that very moment. Currently, I am in a stable health condition. The injuries to my face are serious and this is the main concern at the moment, however, I believe that with time I will improve. It is not just my case – there are hundreds of similar cases that are reported to me every day by citizens who feel defenseless. If I cannot find justice either, what can happen to ordinary citizens. In Saranda, some individuals have created a situation similar to 'Cosa Nostra', especially in relation to properties. I want to publicly highlight this problem, as I have received hundreds and thousands of messages from the tourism industry, where I am reported to have numerous difficulties and obstacles from these people , he said.

We recall that the macabre attack on businessman Arben Çipa, 52 years old from Saranda, occurred on Friday, the conflict which began after he opposed an energy project in the Heremec area.

The incident occurred in the area between Saranda and Kakomë, while the police managed to arrest one of the perpetrators, Dioment Musa, but his cousin, Markelian Musa, has been declared wanted. 

The two people involved in the incident have criminal records. Dioment Musa, a businessman in the construction and nightclub sectors, was previously arrested for assault and illegal possession of weapons, but was acquitted by the court. His cousin, Markelian Musa, has a record of forgery.
