200-300 euros for a vote, SPAK closes investigation into Tom Doshi's two

A referral by the Tirana Police to SPAK in 2025, that two candidates for MPs of Tom Doshi's Social Democratic Party were buying votes for the May 11 parliamentary elections, has proven "empty".

SPAK's investigation has not found any involvement of theirs or of a third suspected person in electoral crimes.

For this reason, in conclusion, the Special Structure requested the dismissal of the case, a request that was accepted by the Special Court.

According to the court decision obtained by A2, the Tirana police referral belonged to the name of a PSD candidate for deputy, who had opened an office in the electoral district in the Paskuqan area.

The police alleged that, having influence in the area and the Kamëz Municipality, the candidate had promised a reward of 200 to 300 euros in exchange for each vote, as well as, depending on support, jobs for PSD voters.

The referral raised suspicions that the candidate was collaborating with a party supporter who had influence in the Bathore and Manza areas, as well as with another candidate for deputy also under the PSD logo.

After registering an investigation for "active corruption in elections", SPAK put the suspect's phone and environmental data under surveillance as a "vote-buyer" from April 24 to May 10, 2011.

Although it turned out that the suspect was active in meetings with citizens and PSD electoral meetings, the investigation did not provide any evidence on the suspicions referred to. On the other hand, the police data were not sufficient to wiretap the candidates for deputies or other persons.
