US President Donald Trump has reacted to reports about the deployment of two American political advisors, Chris LaCivita and James Blair, to Bosnia and Herzegovina, clarifying their status in relation to him.
In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump emphasizes that LaCivita and Blair are outside consultants and are not exclusively employed by him. According to Trump, they are also allowed to work for other clients, while he states that he will review whether there is any conflict of interest.
Trump's reaction comes after The New York Times reported that LaCivita and Blair had traveled to Republika Srpska, in Bosnia-Herzegovina, where they had provided advice on electoral matters. According to reports, the engagement was made through a Washington law firm contracted by the Republika Srpska government, and the two advisers were allegedly paid hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Trump has left open the possibility of terminating cooperation if a conflict of interest is found.
Connection with the Democratic Party in Albania
Chris LaCivita has also become known in Albania for his engagement as a consultant for the Democratic Party's campaign in the May 11, 2025 elections. The DP itself has introduced LaCivita as an American strategist who led its campaign preparations.
In 2025, LaCivita was engaged by the DP as an electoral consultant; documents published in Albanian media also reported payments made by the DP to his consulting company.
So, Trump's statement does not mean that LaCivita did not work for the Albanian Democratic Party. It relates to his relationship with Trump and clarifies that LaCivita is not an exclusive employee of Trump, but also acts as a private consultant for various clients.
