England manager Thomas Tuchel has commented on the 2-0 victory over Albania, a result he considered important. In his post-match statement, Tuchel stressed that his team had complete dominance in the first half, but it was not easy to score more goals.
"It wasn't an easy victory. I didn't expect it to be like this. During the European Championship, Albania has shown that it is a strong team and the teams that played against them had difficulties. In the first half we completely dominated, and for that I am very pleased. However, we could have created more chances," said Tuhel.
The Three Lions coach also stressed that the team took more risks in the second half and that the main objective was victory, which was achieved. "In the second half we took more risks. Our objective was victory and we achieved it. It's a good start," he added.
However, Tuchel stressed that there is still room for improvement, demanding more discipline and speed from the players on the back line. "We need to be more disciplined and play faster on the back line. The players' desire to give good performances must be great," he declared.
One of the biggest surprises of the match for the coach was the appearance of defender Luis Skeli, who shone with an extraordinary performance and managed to score a goal. "I was very surprised by the appearance of Luis Skeli. I like it when a defender comes forward and scores," Tuchel said at the end of his statement.
