Francesco Totti, in an interview for Sky Sport, spoke about the feeling of resignation from his beloved club in 2017.
The former club captain was asked to reflect on the decision to retire and the difficulty of parting ways with Roma fans.
"You are never ready to reach that day, but there is a beginning and an end. Seeing certain images, I would like to return my qualities and return to the field, with strength and will", says Toti.
The Roma legend talks about the people he has made happy and the images of the fans he has always had in his eyes.
"Everything I have done for Roma and the fans will remain forever. Seeing some images, faces of people, children, adults with whom you have lived for 20 years, is like watching them grow up. For me, the fans were the most important thing in my career, they pushed me, helped me, supported me, made me feel different from others. Fortunately, I had them by my side until the end", says the former captain.
When it comes to the experience at the club, during the time of president Pallotta, Totti's tone becomes even harsher: "It was not easy to leave Rome, but I had been thinking about it for months. I had no credibility with the leaders, I was not part of the project.
They just thought of me as a mascot, even though I was Totti. Maybe I wasn't ready, or maybe they didn't let me sit at the center of the table. But when there was a problem, I was ready to step in.
I'd rather die than say goodbye to my heart team. I never thought that I would be able to leave Rome on my own initiative, it was my first family "./ Skysport
