The Germany-Denmark match was stopped in the 36th minute after a bolt of lightning near Dortmund's stadium caused the referee to decide that it would be better for the players to go to the dressing room.

The loud noise appeared to startle English referee Michael Oliver, who directed both teams first to their benches and then to the dressing rooms.
