Serbia - Albania, high-risk match! FIFA sends two security officers to Leskovac

The 2026 World Cup qualifier between Serbia and Albania, which will take place at the 'Dubočica' stadium in Leskovac on October 11, has been declared a high security risk match. This classification was made by FIFA, the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Football Federation of Serbia.

To ensure a smooth running of the match, FIFA has decided to send two specialized security officers who will be present specifically for this match. This decision clearly demonstrates the importance and seriousness of the challenge, emphasizing the responsibility of all parties to put sport above all else.

We recall that the last match between these two national teams in Belgrade, on October 14, 2014, was interrupted after serious incidents by local hooligans, bringing sporting and financial consequences for Serbian football. For this very reason, the authorities are determined not to allow a similar scenario to be repeated.

The Football Federation of Serbia, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, FIFA, UEFA and other competent authorities, is taking strong security measures to ensure that the match takes place in a sporting atmosphere, without incidents and in accordance with the highest international standards.

FIFA has punished Serbia with a 20 percent suspension of stadium capacity and in Leskovac, the city where the match was moved from Belgrade, there will be only 6,500 fans, in a stadium with a capacity of 8,100 seats. No Albanian fans will be in the stadium, according to a mutual agreement between the two Federations.

To ensure that the events of October 14, 2014 are not repeated and that the Albanian national football team players are at peace, FIFA has taken special measures for the organization.
