Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu, who was reported to have been trapped under the rubble after the strong earthquake in Turkey, has been found with signs of life by search and rescue teams.

According to the Portuguese newspaper "A Bola", the Hatayspor striker is in the hospital, with injuries to his right leg and breathing difficulties. According to another Portuguese newspaper "O Jogo" (Atsu stood out for Porto before moving to Chelesa), the player was on the ninth floor of his building at the time of the earthquake.

The local emergency services managed to pull the other footballers Onur Ergun and Burak Oksuz (both from the Hatayspor team) alive from the wreckage. At the moment, rescue teams have not been able to find the club's sporting director, Taner Savut, and a translator from the Turkish club.

For his part, African journalist Saddick Adams claims that there were a total of nine players (except Atsu) and a coach in the building.

Christian Atsu scored the winning goal 1-0 in the match between Hatayspor and Kasimpasa yesterday. This is the Ghanaian's first season in Turkey, transferred from the Saudi Arabian Championship.
