Prime Minister Edi Rama was one of the special guests at the "Golden Ball 2025" Gala evening, which is taking place tonight at the National Opera and Ballet Theater.

Berat Gjimshiti was elected Player of the Year after a vote by the national team players themselves.

The award was presented by Prime Minister Edi Rama, who did not spare jokes in his speech.

"How come you didn't give any votes to Armand Duka?! It's a pleasure to read his name as the player of the year from the National Team. Thanking you for the strength and example you set on the field. Thank you for making us forget Lorik Cana. You put him among the pensioners who come out here and greet him. I wish you more strength and will to raise the kids in the backfield," said Rama.

In his speech, Berat Gjimshiti appeared very happy.

"I thank you for the organization you have done. My mom made a better figure than me last year. Special thanks to the boys of the National Team. Without them, nothing can be achieved. Football is a team game. I thank the most important, my family. I am happy to be here for the award", declared Gjimshiti.

Prime Minister Rama focused on the Albanian National Team and its contribution to elevating the name of our country in the international arena. When "Albanians do not come together even for an hour", Prime Minister Rama described the red and black jersey as a privilege that captures and unites all Albanians in a river of emotions.

"I don't want to give a speech, because here we are in the kingdom of Armand Duka, the king himself will speak. I want to first of all compliment the king for the organization, it is better and more spectacular every year and I want to compliment him for having greatly increased the level of the guests."

While referring to a conversation I had the good fortune to have with Cambiasso, I remember a word that has stuck in my mind, which told me that to play with the Argentina jersey, a footballer has to give up both legs, because in reality the national team jersey that I had the opportunity to wear is something completely different. We have this clear thanks to the national team boys that we have here present, the coach, how that jersey involves us all in a river of emotions.

"When Albanians who don't get together even for an hour, in national team matches we come together like cells of the same organism. This is a great privilege for those who wear the jersey, but also for those who have had the fortune to follow the matches of this national team that we have had recently", said Prime Minister Rama.
