There were no "flashes", but the balance was extraordinary for Italy in the last round of the 2025 European Cups. Five wins for the Serie A teams. Only Inter and Napoli lost. Thursday's victories by Roma, Bologna and Fiorentina give a very good result to Italy, which returns strongly to fight for the extra place in the Champions League. Spain has been left behind, in the UEFA rankings, ahead are the insurmountable England and Germany.
Two successes in the Champions League and two in the Europa League
Atalanta and Juventus have taken three important points in the Champions League. Both teams have thus climbed their positions in the championship stage standings. Roma and Bologna have done the same in the Europa League, while Fiorentina has returned to victory in the Conference. Five successes and two losses, those of Napoli in the field of Benfica and Inter, defeated by a penalty by Liverpool at the end of the match.
Spain is crossed
Italy thus rises to 11,071 points and increases the distance to Spain, which is slowing down due to the results in the Champions League (losses to Real Madrid and Villarreal, draw with Athletic Bilbao) and has 10,609 points. Ahead are England, which seems to have already secured the extra place – with a coefficient of 13,166 points – with nine teams still in the competition and almost certain to continue (at least) until February, and Germany, on which Italy's competition is now focused.
Germany and England ahead
Bundesliga teams produce 11,660 points. An important result considering that there were also some draws in the Champions League, in particular Borussia Dortmund's 2-2 draw with Bodo Glimt. The ranking is not, however, the final one for the end of the calendar year, because next week is the last day of the Conference League group stage, and therefore there will still be some minor changes.
