Here's when the World Cup Play-off draw will take place and how it will

The final routes to the 2026 FIFA World Cup for all teams, except those that qualify directly as the top team in the qualifying group, will be the teams that emerge victorious from the Play-offs.

A draw for the matches in this phase will be made on the 20th of this month, when all the group stage matches will have concluded.

The draws will be held one after the other, with the draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Play-Off tournament starting at 13:00. The European play-offs will feature the 12 second-placed teams from the qualifying group stage and the four best winners of the UEFA Nations League. The 16 teams entering the competition will be divided into four pots, with four teams in each pot. The qualifying matches will be played in single-leg semi-finals, followed by single-leg finals to determine the four European finalists for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

To ensure that both draws can take place in accordance with the relevant draw procedures, the next edition of the FIFA World Ranking will be published on Wednesday, 19 November 2025.

The 23rd edition of the World Cup will feature 48 teams, the largest number ever to qualify for a world finals stage. This edition will be held in Canada, Mexico and the United States from Thursday, June 11 to Sunday, July 19, 2026.
