Igli Tare "revolutionizes" Milan: 7 purchases and 15 departures

7 players approached, 15 left. The calculation does not include the 5 players (Saelemaekers, Bennacer, Adli, Okafor and Lazetic) who have returned from loans elsewhere, who still remain the property of the red and black club, as well as the 7 players who have left Milanello with zero parameters (Florenzi, Jovic and Vasquez), or due to lack of a final purchase (Walker, Joao Felix, Sottil and Abraham).

In total, we're talking about 33 players who have moved in one form or another. There are still more than two weeks left until the end of the summer transfer window, at least one more signing is expected in attack, but Milan's summer can already be summed up in one word: revolution.

After eighth place in the championship and a season that, despite the first trophy of the "RedBird" era, the Italian Super Cup held in Riyadh, was disappointing, a strong turnaround was needed. Before changing on the field, "The Devil" changed skin off it too: Igli Tare as sports director, Massimiliano Allegri as coach. Two key figures in the redesign of the red and black team.

Midfield

So far, Milan has spent 102.5 million euros on signings alone, an amount that could reach 111.5 million with bonuses. The most important investments? At the heart of every formation is the midfield. Ardon Jashari is the most expensive acquisition (34 million + 3 million bonuses from Club Brugge), Samuele Ricci second (23 + 2 million, bought from Torino).

Plus the luxurious approach with zero parameters, Luka Modric, who brought back the "Golden Ball" to Italy, the last one was Cristiano Ronaldo. Of course, in midfield Milan also sold one of its most valuable pieces, Tijjani Reijnders, bought from Guardiola's Manchester City for 57 + 15 million bonuses. However, every revolution requires painful sacrifices.

Wings and protection

The other areas that have been completely changed are the defensive wings. On the left, Theo Hernandez left (25 million to Al Hilal) and Pervis Estupiñán arrived, the first Ecuadorian in the history of the "Devil". Of the right-backs of the 2024-2025 season (Emerson Royal, Calabria, Florenzi, Walker and Jimenez), only the young Spaniard, former Real Madrid player (Jimenez) remains.

In compensation, Tare has relied heavily on Zachary Athekame and the return of Alexis Saelemaekers from loan at Roma, plus versatile player Koni De Winter (20 million euros), whom Allegri trained at Juventus before moving to Genoa. However, the Belgian is primarily a centre-back and it is no coincidence that he was immediately (within 48 hours) taken after Thiaw left, transferred to Newcastle for 40 million.

The rest

In attack, a new center forward is still awaited. Meanwhile, at least three names remain outstanding in terms of departures: Bennacer, Adli and Lazetic. They are not part of the first team and are officially in the transfer market, awaiting another destination.

Igli Tare has also worked hard with the youth (from Camarda and Comotto loaned to Lecce and Spezia respectively, to Liberali sent to Catanzaro with 50% on the future sale) and has managed to resolve delicate situations (from Emerson Royal sent to Flamengo to Morata who returned from Galatasaray to end up at Como). Thus, the revolution is almost complete, only the final effort for the striker is missing.
