Zinedine Zidane is among the candidate names to take over the leadership of Brazil. At least this is what the French daily "L'Equipe" claims.
Since leaving Real Madrid in May 2021, Zidane has not started any new job, even though it has been rumored that he could lead several teams, including the French national team, or Manchester United. According to "L'Equipe", the 50-year-old is seen as the right man to lead Brazil's stars, who failed at the last World Cup, being eliminated in the quarter-finals against Croatia.
Among the other names mentioned by the French newspaper are Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel and Rafael Benítez. Zidane has also been the most popular name to succeed Didier Deschamps at the head of the French national team, but in all likelihood the coach with whom the Roosters won the 2018 World Cup will not move and it is expected that the renewal will be signed next week.
In all likelihood, Deschamps will remain in charge of the team for Euro 2024, until the World Cup 2030. In this case, Zidane would not wait, but would choose another path in his career.
There has been interest from several different clubs for the Frenchman, but it remains to be seen if he will be enticed by the offer that may come to him from the "Seleçao", which is desperately seeking to win back the World Cup, a trophy that he lacks since of 2022.
