In Italy, the Football League has decided to experiment with broadcasting audio communication between the referee and the VAR referees for suspicious cases, initially in the Coppa Italia and then in Serie A.
The Serie A league has announced that during the semi-finals and final of the competition it will begin experimenting with broadcasting the referee's audio signal in stadiums and on television, with a restriction on explaining the decisions made by the match referee after the intervention of VAR.
During this period, viewers and the public in the stadium will be able to hear the reasoning for the final decision directly from the match referee.
Another communication implementation will come into use starting from week 30 of Serie A with the "VARDict" signal, television graphics that will be broadcast during video review and that will be displayed on large screens in stadiums, informing spectators about the review on the monitor or about an extended review.
The aim is to increase the transparency and understandability of refereeing decisions for all parties involved; players, coaches, club directors and especially for the public in the stands and the television audience.
