The Juventus delegation, led by Stellantis President and Exor CEO John Elkann, along with coach Igor Tudor, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, and several team players, was received this afternoon in the Oval Office by US President Donald Trump.

The moments of the meeting were officially documented by the White House, where Trump was also seen answering journalists' questions about tensions in the Middle East between Iran and Israel.

The Bianconeri are in Washington on the eve of their debut in the Club World Cup, where they play the first Group match against the team from the United Arab Emirates, Al-Ain, last night.

This visit to the White House comes as a sign of special attention to Juventus in the international arena and serves as a symbolic moment for the ties between football and sports diplomacy as well.

While he had the Juventus footballers in his office, Donald Trump also spoke about the Israel-Iran war. He said he believes Iran was "weeks away" from having a nuclear weapon, outlining an apocalyptic scenario if that happened.

"I have been saying for 20 years, maybe even longer, that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. I've been saying it for a long time, and I think they were weeks away from having one," he said.

"Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, it is very destructive. And they would use it," he added. "You know, I believe they would use it. Others wouldn't use it, but I believe they would. That's it. It's very simple."

These comments come as the administration has sent mixed signals on intelligence related to Iran's nuclear progress.

Trump's claim contradicts the intelligence community's findings: Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard testified in March that the U.S. intelligence community "continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon and that Supreme Leader Khamenei has not authorized a nuclear weapons program that he suspended in 2003."

CNN reported earlier this week that U.S. intelligence assessments had shown that Iran was not actively pursuing the development of a nuclear weapon, and further, was up to three years away from being able to produce and deliver one to a target of its choosing, according to four people familiar with the assessment.
