German giants Bayern Munich have been targeted by the customs office in Bavaria for failing to pay the minimum wage to some of their youth workers.

The spokesman for this office, Thomas Meister, has confirmed to the Associated Press that the richest and most successful club in Germany is being investigated because it paid less than the minimum quota to its employees from November 2016 to 2021.

This violation has cost the club a fine of 250,000 euros in total, including sanctions for late payments.

During the investigation, the customs office has discovered that the employees of Bayern's youth campus were paid 450 euros per month, while the work they performed was much greater. At the time when the incident happened, a 450 euro job, known as a 'mini-job', belonged to a part-time employee who did not receive any social security. Since then, the minimum wage has gone up to 520 euros.
