Bayern Munich retires number 5 in tribute to legend Beckenbauer
Franz Beckenbauer

Bayern Munich have announced that the number 5 on their shirt has been permanently retired and no player will wear it.

This action is done in honor of German legend, Franz Beckenbauer, who passed away in January of this year, at the age of 78.

The Bavarians have not forgotten what "Kaiser" has given to the team and for this reason they have paid a special tribute.

Number 5 will belong only to Beckenbauer, something Bayern Munich announced through a video on social media.

Beckenbauer played for the Bavarians for 14 seasons, making a total of 584 appearances, scoring 75 goals.
