Real Madrid continue their confident march in the World Cup, defeating Juventus 1-0 and extending their unbeaten run in the competition to 14.
Under the leadership of Xabi Alonso, the Madrid team has recorded two consecutive victories, but the challenge with the black and whites proved to be a true test of their current strength.
In the opening minutes, Juventus applied great pressure and came very close to scoring when Randal Kolo Muani missed a clear chance against Courtois, his brave attempt to beat the goalkeeper ending up over the crossbar. Kenan Yildiz was also very close to taking the lead, but his shot, which was deflected by Tchouaméni, went wide of the post.
It took Real Madrid 30 minutes to create their first serious chance, with Jude Bellingham once again the protagonist, who broke through behind the Juventus defence, but his shot was saved by Michele Di Gregorio and then deflected by Daniele Rugani. The Italian goalkeeper also shone just before the break, flying to deflect a Federico Valverde shot from 30 metres.
In the second half, Valverde was dangerous again, but just a few minutes later, Trent Alexander-Arnold provided a perfect assist, arching for Gonzalo Garcia, who headed in the only goal of the match.
Good news for Madrid fans was the return of Kylian Mbappe, who came on after an absence due to acute gastroenteritis. The Frenchman made an immediate impact, combining beautifully with Arda Güler, but the Turk's attempt was neutralised by Di Gregorio.
Despite their efforts, Juventus could not find the equalizer and were eliminated. Meanwhile, Real Madrid qualified for the quarterfinals and seem to be finding their ideal form at the right time.
