Loftus-Cheek and Pulisic, Allegri smiles: Milan's first 3 points in the championship

In the opening match of the second week of Serie A, Milan wins away to Lecce, defeating the Salento team 2-0. At Via del Mare, the match is immediately unblocked in the 4th minute with Gabbia's header, but VAR denies the joy of the red and black defender for a foul on Coulibaly, then it is Gimenez who wastes the opportunity to score at the end of the first half. In the second half, the Mexican finds the way to the net, but once again VAR cancels Milan's goal for offside position of the striker. No doubt and no irregularity, however, in the 66th minute when Loftus-Cheek with a header, in Modric's perfect cross, gives the Rossoneri the advantage. In the end, it is Pulisic (86') who gives the double by taking advantage of a colossal lethargy of the Puglia defense.

Allegri: We won because we were patient

"The most positive thing is that we had many chances, but we also created situations where we had to behave better at the back. In the defensive phase we have to improve. It was important to win to put the defeat with Cremonese behind us. Against Lecce we showed humility, care and patience, we have to continue like this", - said Massimiliano Allegri after the victory at "Via del Mare".

He then spoke about the new approach: "Nkunku has great quality, he adds to what we already have up front, but the important thing is balance. Changing the playing system? I put one more player in midfield, that way we have more balance and we cover the field better. We need to find security, which only comes if we don't concede goals."

Allegri also touched on the possible departures of Gimenez and Musah: "I haven't spoken to them, it was an important match, we couldn't waste our energy on the transfer market. For everyone's good it was right to think only about the match, the club will think about what it needs to do to make Milan competitive again."
