The Assembly is expected to vote today on the new territorial map with 46 municipalities, an initiative opposed by the opposition. The changes are not supported even by Socialist MPs Erion Braçe and Vullnet Sinaj, as 84 votes are required for approval.

Prime Minister Edi Rama is also expected to participate in the session.

Meanwhile, opposition activists and sympathizers have protested outside the Parliament.

In the afternoon, as the vote approached, protesters gathered again in front of the Parliament, while the police did not allow democratic protesters to approach the cordon set up at the Elbasan road intersection.
