The Chameria Foundation "Hasan Tahsini" has reacted harshly to the exhibition of Napoleon Zerva's portrait in Derviçian, describing this action as a "serious provocation against Albanians".
In its response, the foundation asks the Dropull Municipality to remove the portrait and provide public explanations, while calling on the Albanian government to investigate the circumstances of its placement and identify those responsible.
"SERIAL PROVOCATION AGAINST ALBANIANS IN DERVICIAN.
We call on the Mayor of Dropull to immediately remove Zerva's portrait from this honorary exhibition and provide a public explanation for this unacceptable choice.
We call on the Albanian government to launch, through competent institutions, a full investigation to clarify the circumstances, to identify the persons who proposed, approved and enabled this exposure, as well as to establish the resulting institutional and legal responsibilities.
Respect for the Greek minority and its rights is indisputable. It is precisely the protection of coexistence that requires that the responsibility for this action be identified, and that it not fall on the Greek minority but on the concrete names that bear the heavy blood of the Albanians massacred by the chauvinist gangs of Zerva.
"This provocation cannot pass in silence. The victims of genocide demand justice and respect, so the Albanian authorities have the obligation to respond and act," the reaction reads.
