Interior Minister Ervin Demo has reacted after tensions and violent clashes between police and students during the protest that has been taking place for several hours near the Ministry of Education.

Through a reaction, Demo announced that six State Police officers were injured while performing their duties to guarantee order and security.

He condemned violence against police officers, stating that hitting an officer does not constitute an exercise of the right to protest.

The minister also called on participants to remain calm and reduce tensions.

"Six State Police officers were injured while performing their duties to guarantee order and security.

I condemn without reservation the violence against them. Hitting a police officer is not an exercise of the right to protest.

I call on all participants to remain calm, violence is not justified.

I wish a speedy recovery to the injured officers. They and their families have my full support and solidarity.

The State Police will continue to fulfill its duty to guarantee order and security, respecting the right to peaceful protest and acting with professionalism, restraint and in accordance with the law.

"In these moments, everyone's responsibility is to contribute to reducing tensions," Demo said.
