The Central Election Commission has officially started the process of preparing the May 14 elections. Democrats have made public that last year their candidates for mayor, these names will come out of the Primaries process.

Meanwhile, the Socialists are taking their time and have declared that they will respect the official deadlines to announce the lists of their candidates, who will be agreed only a few days before submitting the names to the CEC.

Their candidates will emerge from a process of consultations, surveys and polls with the communities of each municipality, and then the Presidency will have the last word. But despite the fact that the pink seat has decided to be discreet in this process, the names of those who will be reconfirmed for a second or third term have been learned by the media.

Undisputed is the re-candidacy of Erjon Veliaj in Tirana, as well as Gledian Llajtja in Elbasan. Despite the fact that for Durrës there are quite a few debates within the SP of this city, it seems that the current mayor will be the name that will be made official for the race on May 14.

According to Tv Klan, at the last meeting of the Presidency, the head socialist Rama has declared that in the 5 municipalities where the SP won in the partial elections of March 6, the current mayors will be re-candidates.

In Shkodër, it is no longer a secret from the socialists that they will run for deputy Benet Beci. In the tour that Rama conducted in the fall in several municipalities, he made it clear that he would re-candidate the mayor of Korça, Pogradec, Gjirokastra, Përmet, Lezha, Kamza and several other small municipalities.

Vlora is the one that has a big debate within the SP. What is known for sure is that Dritan Leli has no possibility of another chance after the clashes that the Prime Minister has had with him since before the elections of April 25, 2021 when he did not accept his offer to be part of the list of deputies.

According to Tv Klan, three are the names that are currently being discussed; Deputy Minister of Tourism Vilma Bello, head of the National Emergency Skënder Brataj and State Attorney Odise Moçka. The latter has more chances to be the official SP candidate for Vlora.
