The head of the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi, considered it a "mafia message" of the socialist majority's refusal to send to the Constitutional Court for the review of the mandate of Olta Xhaçka.
The Assembly voted today with 72 votes against from the Socialists, and 39 in favor, thus overturning the opposition's request that Xhaçka's mandate be reviewed by the Constituent Assembly for conflict of interest, related to the strategic investments that her husband has benefited from the Socialist government.
"The mafia message that Edi Rama sent to SPAK today that he cannot touch Olta Xhačka. The same as was done today with the Constitutional Court and tomorrow if they take decisions against Xhačka. It does not apply the decision of the Constitutional Court. On the day of the dictator's death, the country's constitutionality and justice reform died.
It is a black day for Albania. We have to make a decision whether to go to the Constitutional Court again. As of today, I don't understand what the members of the Constitutional Court will be paid for," said Bardhi, among other things.
