Arif Rexhmati, proposed as a candidate for the "Primaries" of Kukës, has spoken out against this process, saying that it promotes division rather than uniting the democrats.
Rexhmati, who is the head of the DP of Kukes, led by Lulzim Basha, is one of the 6 candidates of the "Primary" process, from which a single candidate will emerge who will compete for the City Hall.
Rexhmati says that the democrats should find a comprehensive and consensual candidate and not deal with the primary process that brings dissatisfaction and division.
Rexhmat's full reaction:
Dear Democrats,
First of all, I want to express the highest consideration for the membership of PD Kuke. I feel deeply humbled by your evaluation and trust in proposing me as a candidate for the extraordinary elections for Kukes Municipality.
My gratitude goes to all of the democrats who, with untold sacrifices, have stood and are standing in the face of the immorality and anti-values that have been unjustly imposed on Kukesi and Kuksians. I express my deepest appreciation and thanks to everyone who is sincerely invested in an inclusive and unifying process for a consensual candidate, including the deputies of Kukes District, Mr. Flamur Hoxha and Mr. Isuf Cela.
In the situation that PD is going through, I have expressed my readiness to be part of a unifying election, which would count in the representation with a single resident candidate in Kukes, according to the request of Kukes's democrats. Although I support the principle of competition, I judge, like many of the democrats, that entering into a primaries process when there is only one month left from the elections and when the internal situation of the democrats continues to suffer the consequences of conflict and blame, with all the good intentions in by itself, they do not serve the consolidation of the structures and their readiness for the campaign. Dissensions after voting create division and not unity of the membership, while the reliability of the process not only does not guarantee unity, but can be a source of conflict during and after the process, with irreparable damage to the outcome of the election.
Putting the interests of the democrats and all Kuksian families first, I repeat my appeal and that of many democrats in Kukes to identify a resident candidate in Kukes, inclusive, consensual, unifying with the sole purpose of victory over the candidate of renaissance and the oligarchs Rames.
With consideration,
Arif Rexmati
