Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has called for an urgent meeting of the Assembly on Thursday to approve the increase in salaries and pensions as soon as possible.

In a statement from the blue headquarters, Berisha did not spare the criticism of Prime Minister Edi Rama, whom he said promises about "fictitious salary increases" for the sake of the electoral campaign. He further added that Rama together with the Alibeaj group blocked the works in the Assembly in order to postpone the promises he made for the electoral campaign, hoping to increase the votes on May 14.

"In this campaign, Edi Rama does not spare the lie without releasing it, he does not spare words worthy of him unused. I have vowed not to deal with his vocabulary, but to deal with the big problems that this regime has created for the citizens. To deal with the presentation of our alternative for their solution. The truth is that he blocked the law in the Parliament himself, in a shameful agreement with Alibasha, closing the parliament. He did this only because that promise was a fraud. I am here today on behalf of Albanian citizens, democrats and socialists, and non-partisans. I invite you to urgently convene the parliament on Thursday and vote on the law for increasing salaries and pensions. Making fun of people who count their last pennies. I say to Rama, be a person with feelings for the citizens for once, for a moment at least, and let's vote for the salary increase law." , said Berisha.
