Arta Dade

The former deputy and former minister of SP Arta Dade was invited this Sunday to the program "Dola te Ola" on News24, where, among other things, she talked about her experience in politics and how the Socialist Party is degrading over the years.

Arta Dade described the 1997 parliament as the biggest crisis during democracy, stressing that there were very difficult times, the consequences of which are felt even today.

Dade expressed regret that the Socialist Party, from the most modern party with Nano as its chairman, has now turned into a party with one spirit where the chairman decides. " The Socialist Party with Fatos Nano as its leader created a modern left. Within the party, the debate on even the most heated issues was without any kind of gloves. The SP, until the time I was part of it, was the most modern and democratized party within the structures. That was the general spirit of Fatos, even when he was in prison as a political convict, but also the other colleagues who led the party had a different mentality from all the parties .

He called Nano's departure an occasion to mark, since according to Dade anyone who loses the elections must leave. "I believe it was a very early departure, because he was 53 years old, and he still had more to give to the country, beyond the reservations I may have for him," she said, adding that when Nano resigned, he did not consider leaving his final. "Fatosi had another version, he thought that the SP could be led by rotation with 5-6 personalities".

Regarding the state of the SP today, 6 years after she left, Dade said he would like to have more debate. "Each party is consumed by being in government. It is the third mandate and there are definitely objections, but Albania's problem is that there is no other alternative and I am worried about that. Even in the current elections, I see that the opposition is very anemic, apart from the fact that it is headed by a man who will not take them anywhere".

Asked what are the things that cannot be forgiven for the SP, Dade said: "There are many things, the fight against corruption is very weak, people with criminal records who entered the Parliament, the arbitrary election of many candidates, etc."

Dade emphasized that he left the SP after he was not included in the lists, without any reason, simply because the chairman, Rama, decided.

" I left because I was not included in the SP lists, we don't have a process as it should be, e.g. you are not included in the lists when you have created costs for the political party, you are not included when they do not vote for you, which is not my case. Such a spirit has been created there. The electoral system that we changed was wrong and I think that if the electoral system is not changed, politics will continue to degrade towards authoritarianism, since the lists do not go through a process, but the president decides, this is for all parties" .

Dade expressed regret for not being included in the lists, but when he saw how the parliament degraded, he thinks he left at the right time. " I was sorry that I was not part of the list, but when I saw how the Parliament degraded, to be honest, it seems to me that I left at the right time and I was busy with other things. Working for the country does not mean only being in politics ".

The former deputy blamed the opposition, which according to her has made successive mistakes, making Rama's path very easy, " I think that the opposition cannot be forgiven for being divided and for making one mistake after another, and they have completely left the ground free to Prime Minister Edi Rama, since handing over mandates, since not participating in local elections 4 years ago. Leaving the field empty, of course the one who receives the ball plays and this is very harmful for Albania, it is harmful for democracy. I hope that after these elections at least, first the opposition should start a process. I want to see them united, but the one they put in charge will not take them anywhere, there are other people who can be in charge" .

Asked if she will return to politics, Dade said: " Never say never", as she added that she thinks she can contribute even outside the party structures, as according to her, TV debates have become tiring and not at the level that she would like to.
