To protect the defenseless

Prime Minister Edi Rama has spoken about the scandalous AKSHI file, where he came to the defense of the former director, Mirlinda Karçanaj, saying what will happen if she is declared innocent.

Rama stressed that he does not want to comment on the content of the investigation, but raised concerns about the way in which, according to him, the institution and its staff are being publicly treated.

The head of government emphasized the principle of the presumption of innocence, stating that every person has the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

"I have also spoken about the AKSHI and the director who is under house arrest. I do not want to say anything about the content of the case, but I can say one thing that this country cannot be the place where a proud institution like the AKSHI becomes a platform to psychologically suffocate engineers and girls and boys who, led by the director of that institution, have worked around the clock, doing work."

People have the right to be presumed innocent and to be given the opportunity to be investigated as innocent until proven guilty or not.

"What if Linda Karcanaj is completely innocent and not a criminal, part of a structured group, like the character he created to rush to arrest her and massacre her with homemade bombs, pot by pot, putting villas and cars on her back, while she lives in a rented house and, as I heard, doesn't even drive a car and doesn't have one," Rama said.

His defense seems illogical, considering that the former head of AKSHI is accused of one of the biggest scandals in state offices.

Especially since no one is accusing them of living a luxurious life, or whether or not they have a car.

He is accused of corruption scandals worth tens of millions of euros.
