"They make you look like a fool", Alfred Moisiu: Every MP with villas,
Alfred Moses

The former president of Albania, Alfred Moisiu , has raised the alarm about the high level of enrichment of public officials compared to the income they legally receive.

In a television interview, Moisiu emphasized that, although he has been at the head of state for five years, he continues to live in a house built 53 years ago, while many MPs, according to him, possess extensive assets, some declared and others hidden.

" It's no secret that not only the highest figures, but also every MP has a house by the sea, in the mountains and on the hills. What did they do with it? We know the salaries,"  said Moisiu.

He also criticized the lack of accountability of officials to corruption allegations, which according to him are often denied and called "slander."

"The worst thing is that they say they are okay and it is slander. They even make you look stupid," he said in a direct tone.

Appeal for justice: Investigate with documents, not assumptions

Moisiu called on the new judiciary not to operate on guesswork, but to base itself on concrete evidence and official documents, even if these have to be sought outside of Albania.
