Socialists gather at the Palace of Congresses to celebrate the 35th anniversary

The Socialist Party of Tirana commemorated today the 35th anniversary of its founding with an activity organized at the Palace of Congresses, attended by hundreds of socialists, officials and former high officials of this political force.

The commemorative event presented a retrospective of the history of the Socialist Party in the capital, bringing to attention the main moments of its political journey, from the period when the party was led by Fatos Nano to the present day.

Through film materials and archival footage, the political evolution of the largest left-wing force in the country was reflected, as well as the transformations of Tirana over the years.

An important part of the presentation was dedicated to the changes the capital has experienced over the last two decades, contrasting Tirana before 2001 with subsequent developments.

According to the material displayed during the activity, Tirana in the years before 2001 was characterized by a lack of infrastructure, public spaces, and numerous urban problems.

Meanwhile, the presented images highlighted the investments and transformations carried out during the period when Edi Rama headed the Municipality of Tirana, as well as subsequent developments under the administration of Erion Veliaj.

The event also highlighted the Socialist Party's journey in leading the country and the objective of Albania's membership in the European Union, which was considered one of the main challenges of the coming years.

The 35th anniversary of the founding of the SP branch in Tirana was marked as part of the activities that the socialists have organized this year to remember the history and contribution of this political force to the public life of the country.
