The Democratic Party condemns the project of a sovereign Bektashi state within the territory of Albania. In a post on social networks, the leader of the Democrats, Sali Berisha, says that "the proclamation of an Islamic state by Edi Rama is a stab in the back against the Muslim faith in Albania and a major anti-national act."

Berisha states that the patriotic Bektashi clerics fought for the sovereignty and independence of Albania and never for religious principalities.

For this reason, he considers the government's decision unconstitutional and anti-Albanian.

"The patriotic Bektashi clerics fought for the sovereignty and independence of Albania and never for religious principalities, because they were ardent patriots and not anti-Albanian traffickers and traitors."

With this unconstitutional act, this branded anti-Albanian seeks to introduce deep religious division into Albania, to use the territory of Albania as private property for himself and the anti-Albanian groups he represents, and to create an epicenter of international criminal trafficking.

"The Democratic Party condemns with the greatest force the project of the Islamic Bektashi state within the territory of Albania and guarantees the Albanian Bektashis and all our religious communities that it, strictly respecting the principle of separation of state and religion, will stand by their side unwaveringly in defense of the excellent religious harmony and tolerance of our nation and will never recognize such anti-constitutional and anti-Albanian creatures," Berisha wrote.

Rama promised today to announce the creation of the Bektashi State, guaranteeing every skeptic that the special status of the headquarters of the World Patriarchate does not infringe on territorial sovereignty in any way.
