In today's plenary session, Socialist Party MP Ulsi Manja, who is also the chair of the Laws Committee, had a debate with Democratic Party MP Elda Hoti.

While speaking about the 2026 draft budget, Manja responded to Hoti's accusations that the government has discriminated against the north.

While there was also a stake for Democratic MP Gjin Gjoni who visited poor residents of the area wearing an expensive Moncler sweatshirt.

"Finally, just a second, I have a request for my colleagues in the majority and our colleagues ministers, because I see that here a north-south investment imbalance is being sought to be established. The money that is flowing to the south of Albania.

In fact, Milot-Balldren is in the process and very soon you will have the contract for the Milot-Balldren road. I am speaking as a northerner. The second, the Arbri road, 55 minutes, has connected Dibra with Tirana. The third, investments in the energy system in the 4 northern regions… Yes, of course we have a problem with the Lezha region, and these investments are guaranteed with the 2026 budget. I would invite colleagues that, when they talk here that the budget has figures, to say when they talk about investments in the four regions and to say them with figures here and not fall prey to the pressure coming from this side, that the north is being discriminated against.

And as for those phones that you pick up like that, Mrs. Hoti, be convinced that today you should have congratulated the municipal employees, because neither the residents of Kurbin, nor of Lezha, nor of any region in the north, expect anything from you. So go there with your hands in your pockets, take photos on Facebook, because they don't expect you to solve their problems. Don't go there wearing clothes worth 5000-6000 euros, because it's a sin," said Manja.
