Prime Minister Edi Rama is in Paris to participate in the summit of the Coalition of Good Will for Ukraine, convened by French President Emmanuel Macron. Before the Summit, Rama held meetings with French politicians, including the Minister of Justice, Gerald Darmian.
Through a post on social networks, the head of the Albanian Government shared several photos from the meeting with Darmian, while in the accompanying note he does not rule out the possibility that the French will analyze with experts the problems of criminal policies in Albania, as well as assist in the drafting of the new criminal code.
"We met with the French Minister of Justice, Gérald Darmanin, to talk about the participation of French partners in the reflection group on the issues of criminal policy in Albania and the consolidation of the new draft of the Criminal Code, in full harmony with European standards and best practices," Rama writes.
One of the criminal issues that the Ministry of Justice and representatives of the socialist majority government have highlighted recently is the high prison sentences for individuals accused of a criminal offense, but not convicted by the courts.
