Prime Minister Edi Rama gave an interview to the Italian media Rai Uno, as he commented on the development of tourism in the country, as well as the recent visit of his Italian counterpart to Albania, Giorgia Meloni.

Rama says that Meloni is a friend of the Albanians and that she supports the entry into Europe, while she discovered the backstage of the payment of the bill of the Italian tourists who fled without paying from a restaurant in Berat.

"The visit went very well, she was very happy together with her family. He came by ferry and rested in peace for three days. Then we exchanged some ideas because there is a lot to do between Italy and Albania", said Rama, among other things, during the short interview.

Journalist: You both have very different political journeys, you are a socialist, while Meloni comes from the right, but what do you have in common?

Rama: The way we say what we think, besides that we are lucky that these left and right divisions are simply part of history now. When decisions have to be made, we must be specific.

Journalist:  There is a tourist boom in Albania, are you competing with us?

Rama : To say so is really too much, because no one can compete with Italy.

Journalist : What could be the role of our country in bringing Albania closer to Europe?

Rama:  Regardless of who the Prime Minister has been, Italy has always been our advocate and Giorgia actually even talks about a reunification of the European Union, not just European integration.

Journalist:  Recently, in a special episode on social networks, a video went viral where a group of Italians left the restaurant without paying. Is it true that when the prime minister found out about this, she asked the ambassador to pay the bill?

Rama:  I told her this for a little laugh and everyone around her burst out laughing, but she frowned. He returned to the Ambassador:
"You Ambassador must pay that bill and make a communication and ask for forgiveness because these are shameful, and I, those who are the shame of Italy, do not accept them" he said in his fantastic Roman dialect .
