Rama at KiE summit: Assembly to withdraw Dick Marty's report, it was funded
Rama at the Council of Europe summit

The Prime Minister of the country, Edi Rama, is in Iceland, where he is participating in the Council of Europe summit. This two-day summit has brought together European leaders with the aim of holding Russia accountable for the war in Ukraine.

In his speech, Rama mentioned the accusations leveled against Hashim Thaçi and the Kosovo Liberation Army in the 2011 report, which, according to the head of the government, originated in this council.

"Today at the summit of the Council of Europe, I cannot sit without remembering that the injustice against the liberation war of Kosovo and its leader Hashim Thaçit started precisely in the Council of Europe under the malicious influence of the former member of this council, the Russian Federation.

As Joe Biden referred to, Washington of Kosovo is now judged by a court established and established by the democratic world, but supported by a 2011 report of the Council of Europe. Which was diabolically sponsored by Vladimir Putin's representatives at the Council of Europe assembly. Completely unfounded accusations of human organ trafficking were then raised as the starting point of a criminal campaign to smear Albania and Kosovo."

Rama emphasized that the Assembly of the Council of Europe should withdraw that shameful report.

"And when I heard the Kremlin's propaganda talk about human organ trafficking, it seemed to me that I saw President Zelenskiy 10 years later tried by a special court on the same absurd charges. Sorry for this brutally unconventional opening that you might think shatters that piano where our host's Ave Maria was so wonderfully played. But it is very discouraging to know that the situation involving the president of Kosovo and the Liberation Army had its origins within the Council of Europe. I would feel guilty to be silent or not talk about the following. The Assembly of the Council of Europe has a moral obligation to correct any mistake, and in this case it must retract the report that falsely labeled Albania as a base for organ trafficking.

Refusing to face the truth today would be worse than making this grave mistake 12 years ago where many blindly voted on that shameful report. Of course, the situation has changed, Russia is no longer a member of this Council, although the number of Russians working for the Council of Europe is quite impressive. Albania had no illusions about the nature of Moscow's regime and our relationship with Moscow was non-existent.
