He warned that Albania would change course if negotiations were not opened.

Full interview:
Mr. Prime Minister, we received positive signals from last night's meeting you had with Mr. Borell, regarding a possible decision-making on June 6 for Albania?
Prime Minister Edi Rama: Now the situation is known and to repeat what continues to be repeated is probably not worth it. However, we repeat that it is very clear that for Albania the opinion is very positive, we expect another progress report and we are convinced that it will be even more positive because many things have happened and are all in the right direction. . Albania's image is completely different today in every aspect. Albania is considered a model for the region, not only here, but also in The Hague. This is very clear.
However, yesterday the conversation focused on the socio-economic situation, as a result of the consequences of the war and for the sake of truth, if we could share that conversation with the public in Albania, we would have heard a much more problematic situation than ours, in terms of financial sustainability, in terms of further financing of the economy, in terms of inflation and so on.
As for the rest, we are in the position that is known, we will wait for the French presidency. Here the issue is with Bulgaria, which has taken Macedonia hostage and which, as a result, has made us hostage to a major stalemate that we have no connection with at all.
Meanwhile, I believe that everyone is clear that this situation can not continue any longer. However, we will immediately change course, as we have said and as we have received from the National Council in case our country does not move to the next stage to formally sit at the negotiating table.
- Mr. Prime Minister, will the European Union assist or assist the 6 countries of the Western Balkans, given the developments and consequences that may come from the Russia-Ukraine war, and in what form?
Prime Minister Edi Rama: The European Union is a heavy and big machine, that even when there are turns to take, it takes them very slowly, but we have, for some time, worked with some capitals, making some of our proposals because there are also a new will to hear from us and when I say from us I do not mean only Albania, but also other countries, but also given the fact that we have now guaranteed a direct access to the main chancellery and we have an ongoing dialogue , so we are no longer at the time when a conversation between the Prime Minister of Albania and the Chancellor or President of France was a major event talked about on television, press releases were made.
Today these are routine, but on the other hand everything is open and anything can happen. It can happen that there is a significant change. It can happen that nothing can happen, that's all to see.
- After Serbia, Mr. Prime Minister and we are importing goods from Macedonia. Does this show that "Open Balkan" is working and what is expected to happen with Montenegro? A little earlier in a press conference you confirmed the invitation you made to the Albanian elected Prime Minister of Montenegro, what will be the position of this country?
Prime Minister Edi Rama: The Open Balkans works and will work better and better. Now we are waiting for Montenegro to join, that is, it is a matter of time, I have always said, it is a matter of time for everyone to unite, in fact, there is no other place for this work but cooperation, cooperation , so of course it is definitely a waste of time for those who are reluctant or refuse to join, but we have no time to lose.
- Before last night's dinner, the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić stated for his accompanying media that Serbia will reconsider its position if Kosovo seeks membership in Europe. Does Albania have a position on this? What will be her vote?
Prime Minister Edi Rama: This will not be discussed at all. We are very clear. We have no equivocation. We are in absolute support of Kosovo at every step and for everything that connects Albania, Kosovo and the international community.
While we have a completely different approach when it comes to the normalization of relations step by step in economic terms, in terms of freedom of movement and so on, with Serbia in parallel with the battle at the table, the diplomatic battle for dialogue and so on. because we believe that this is the way, this is the way and on the other hand we fully respect the choice made by the legitimate, voted, mandated, responsible authorities of Kosovo to have a completely different approach in this regard.
But when it comes to Kosovo demarches in the international arena, we are 100% with Kosovo. Serbia is certainly in its own right to think completely differently, we feel sorry for Serbia in this case, but we will support Kosovo!
