Prime Minister Edi Rama inspected today (March 19) the Corridor VIII construction site, where two important tunnels, each 1.1 km long, are being built and will connect Elbasan with Librazhd.
Accompanied by the political leader of the region, Arbian Mazniku, candidates for deputies in the May 11 elections, construction managers, and Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, the head of government closely inspected the work sites on the ground, including the new bridges being built to connect to the tunnels.
Work is expected to conclude in September on the tunnels and everything will be finished next spring.
As Rama asks if 'there will be light at the end of the tunnel', he adds that "when we crossed Murriz, we no longer ask about other difficulties," referring to the geological problems of the tunnels.
"Listen, it's being done for you (addressing remote followers), it's also for you (the Dibra area), through the Arbri Road you will go directly to Lake Pogradec," the prime minister says, among other things.
While it is known for its technical qualities, design, and works, this construction site is also considered important as an artery that connects many areas of the country and shortens travel time.
"In one of the most important construction sites of Corridor VIII, we are building two 1.1 km long tunnels that will connect the Elbasan part with the Librazhd part, turning it into an important traffic artery and unleashing the entire economic and tourist potential of these areas. The investment is expected to be completed by the end of this year, while part of the project is also the construction of two bridges that are directly connected to the tunnel", said Prime Minister Rama.
