Rama responds to the opposition in Italy: The agreement is not left or right,

Prime Minister Edi Rama has defended the agreement he signed with his counterpart Giorgia Meloni, responding to left-wing Italian politicians, after the news that they sought to expel him from the European Socialist Party.

In a post in the Italian language, Rama addresses them, apparently saying that the accusations of the Italian socialists are the same as the accusations of the Democratic Party in Albania.

Rama further says that the agreement he signed to take illegal immigrants from Italy is neither right nor left, but simply right.

Rama's full reaction:

The news spread in the newspapers that the friends of the Italian DP wanted to expel me from the European Socialist Party and then they themselves denied it with some delay, but underlining that the agreement that Albania made with the Italian government is wrong in all points, point of view - exactly the same thing is said by many right-wing Albanian PDs who are fighting for the right to the same name after the subsequent divisions.

Of course I will miss the ability to see the multiple perspectives of all these DPs, but in full respect of the Italian DP I would like to reiterate my single point of view: Trying to help Italy in this situation, where no one in Europe seems to have a solution that can be shared by everyone, maybe it is not the best, but it is certainly the minimum that Albania should and can do! If this is not on the left in Italy, it does not matter, it seems that it is not on the right in Albania either. Maybe it's just fair.

(I regret that I cannot meet my Italian friends at the PSE Summit in Malaga because I am at the Peace Forum in Paris, but I hope that the discussion on the increasingly sensitive issue of immigration will bring out answers good, concrete and common that Europe has been waiting for for many years now)
