Prime Minister Edi Rama today held a meeting with the citizens of Kukes to thank them for voting on May 14. He emphasized that the victory of Rexha Byber in Tropoja and that of Safet Gjic in Kukës constitutes an extraordinary result for the Socialist Party.
"Safet's contract has a problem that it was written and distributed when we didn't think we would win Tropoja either, so Safet I absolutely do not want to reduce the value of Kukes' victory and the importance of your victory, but I want to say that you have entered a phase new story that all roads lead to Tropoja, don't get bored. Don't be upset that these people from Tropoja want to leave the borders altogether, in Plavë and Guci, as Rexha said, we have the roads from there, and then back to Berlin.
In a way, these kinds of troubles are sweeter because they are energizing and motivating than the troubles and problems of those who came out the way they did. I want to say that today Rexha and friends from Tropoja have come, but for Tropoja we will do a special thank you in Tropoja, so we put Rexha up here since he came, but in fact we have gathered to specially thank all of you who you are the foundation of SP's victory here in Kukës. I don't want to leave aside those who contributed to Has, we have another result that is more extraordinary which is PS first force. We have to be very realistic about this, we have to understand what happened and not give ourselves complacency or credit that we don't have. Because there were some factors here that didn't necessarily have to do with what we did,
Rama stated that these two municipalities were on the list of 11 controversial ones, yet the spirit in the electoral meetings and the subsequent results proved otherwise.
"I also counted Kukësi and Tropoja among the 11 controversial ones, although from March to April and especially at the end of April and the beginning of May, the polls started to change in a surprising way. The difference became very narrow and what is more encouraging and I was afraid to believe it was that the trend was constantly increasing and that was also reflected in the spirit we found in the territory."
There was no shortage of jokes either.
"Pandi also had a special role in this district and I want to thank him for that and I want to remind him that when I told him in Kryesi you will go to Kukës, he looked at me as if I was taking him to exile, you will go to Kukës I told him you don't have what you're thinking, at dinner he texted me and told me what time it is Edi, are you serious?! Because I was 100% convinced that Pandi would create a positive atmosphere and above all would bring what Safeti says, Pandi is for politics, I am a work horse, although he is behaving like a cart horse. He says to me, I am the horse, I have the cart, now he tells me to load it so that I can take it to... That a horse with an empty cart should be a man!"
