SP approves in principle the 8.8 billion euro budget and fiscal package,

In a marathon session that lasted almost 16 hours, the Parliament approved in principle the 2026 draft budget worth 8.8 billion euros, as well as the 8 draft laws of the fiscal package. The marathon session lasted until 03:00 in the morning. The budget received only 83 votes in favor from the socialists, while as expected the opposition voted against.

Only two Socialist MPs, Erion Braçe and Vullnet Sinaj, have stepped out of line by not voting on 3 draft laws of the fiscal package. 

Specifically, Braçe did not participate in the vote on the draft law "On the local tax system", while Sinaj did not vote on the 2 fiscal peace draft laws.

The budget of 8.8 billion euros will be available to institutions for health services, salaries, support schemes for families in need, pensions, education, employment, agriculture, road transport, justice, and even security spending, within the framework of obligations to NATO.
