The Socialist Party has taken a step back regarding the proposal for the recognition of a third gender, an issue that has caused much debate.

The Socialists have submitted 22 new amendments to the Gender Equality Bill to the Parliament, which mention only two gender categories, man and woman, excluding the possibility of a formal recognition of a third gender.

This move comes after great pressure from various social groups, who demanded a review of the party's positions on this delicate topic.

Furthermore, after heated discussions and opposition from most of the public, it seems that the SP has decided to focus on a more traditional formula for gender identification.

The submitted amendments will be reviewed by the relevant committees and will be submitted for approval in the plenary session of the Assembly.
