The former chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, proposes four changes that, according to him, will bring increased accountability and transparency of the government.

During a meeting with a group of democrats in Divjaka, Basha proposed, among other things, that the head of state be elected by the people and the number of ministries be determined by law by the parliament. Basha has also proposed changes in the wording of the motion of no confidence and confidence in the government as well as the "removal of political control" over the employees of the administration.

Lulzim Basha is on a tour of meetings with democrats throughout the country, as part of the elections for the new chairman of the Democratic Party, which will be held on July 29. The former politically persecuted Gjergj Hani entered the race with Basha.

"With the support of the Democrats, my responsibility will be to extend the hand of cooperation to anyone who believes in these values. With these transformations, we aim to increase the government's control and accountability mechanisms, regardless of who leads it", Basha stated.

For this reason, it proposes the following four changes:

"We must change the wording of the Motion of confidence and that of no confidence; The number of ministries and the increase of the Public Debt should be made by law by the Parliament; Removing political control over administration employees, giving them job security; The direct election of the President by the people, as the bearer and balancer of power".
